Philomena Burke

Philomena, known as Mena to all who knew her passed away on December 21, 2014. Mena had just celebrated her 82nd birthday. She was looking forward to Christmas and was preparing for it in her usual way but this year God took her to his Christmas dinner in Heaven where she could be reunited with her late husband Paddy and her angels.

Mena was born and reared in Cornanool where she remained for her entire life. She had a great love for Cornanool and the people who live there. She especially loved her farm and got great joy and peace working there which she did until her illness prevented her from doing so. This strength and caring nature was also obvious in the way she cared for her late husband Paddy in his final years. She was devoted to Paddy and to his care.

Mena also enjoyed her many neighbours and friends who were a great liveline to her in the last years of her life. They kept her up to date with all the current news and happenings. This enjoyment was not all one-sided as Mena was also a mine of information as she was blessed with a great knowledge and memory.

Mena had a deep faith and was a great believer in the power of  Mass. This was borne out by the amount of Mass cards she both sent and received on an ongoing basis.

Mena fought the good fight and bore all her crosses and pain with faith and dignity. So now Mena rest in peace free from pain with your eternal family.
