Mayo County Council advises motorists that roadworks on the R319 in Achill will restrict access to Keem Beach tomorrow Monday, July 6

Motorists and visitors to Achill Island are being advised to plan their journeys in advance as essential roadworks are scheduled to take place on the R319 at Keem on Monday, July 6.

Mayo County Council has confirmed that traffic management measures will be in place throughout the day, with traffic controls operating from 8am until 5pm. Road users should expect delays while the works are being carried out.

As part of the works, there will be no access to Keem Beach between 8am and 5pm, with access restricted to local traffic only.

The council is urging motorists, visitors and tourists planning to travel to the popular Blue Flag beach to make alternative arrangements or allow extra time for their journeys.

Keem Beach is one of Mayo’s best-known visitor attractions during the summer months, and the temporary restrictions are expected to affect both local residents and tourists.
