Traffic restrictions in Mayo town as water main works continue

Diversions to remain in place on Old Sligo Road in Ballina from June 8
Motorists in Ballina are being advised of traffic restrictions as Uisce Éireann continues water main installation works on the Old Sligo Road from Monday, June 8.
According to Mayo County Council, the works will take place on the stretch of road between St Patrick’s Estate and Fenian Row as part of ongoing upgrades to the local water network.
As a result of the works, there will be no left turn permitted from Fenian Row towards Crossmolina or the Slí Ectra area for the duration of the project.
Traffic management measures and diversion routes will be in operation to facilitate the works and maintain traffic flow in the area.
Road users are being asked to follow all signage and directions from traffic management personnel and to allow extra travel time when passing through the affected area.
The works form part of Uisce Éireann’s ongoing investment in water infrastructure aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of the water supply network in Ballina.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly while the works are underway.
