Yet another cure - EFT
Musings

I WAS able to study the latest cure over Christmas after a visitor had brought the details. It’s called Emotional Freedom Therapy. It’s simple and it can be instantaneous.
It also bears out my theory that dredging up past traumas on the psychologist’s couch can only be harmful. EFT does not require that – and you don’t even have to believe in it for it to work.
In fact, all you have to do is to tap 13 energy points on your body to relieve whatever blockage is in the electrical circuit that has been caused by some emotional trauma. The blockage also causes physical ailments so, as well as being cured of hang-ups and addictions, diseases can clear up, too.
Some aspects of the procedure may be off-putting at first, like setting it up. For this you have to locate a sore spot on your breastbone and rub it while saying three times (for instance): “Even though I have a fear of water, I still think I’m great”. This sounds pretty idiotic, but just do it.
Then, with two fingers, you proceed to tap each of the designated points seven times, while repeating a shortened version of the set-up, say, ‘fear of water’. Most of the points are on the face and hands and the last act could seriously dampen your enthusiasm, too, as it entails humming a couple of bars of some tune while vigorously tapping.
You can repeat the process numerous times, as it only takes a few minutes and maybe, after only doing it once, you’ll be rearing to swim the Atlantic– or, in my case, to get a job in a morgue, as I suffer from necrophobia.
Mind you, I haven’t worked on this particular flaw as yet, because there are comparatively few corpses to be dealt with in Cloona, where I live, and there are so many other afflictions that seem more important.
Sometimes, and particularly after Christmas, my energy seemed at a low ebb, so I treated that and I’m sure it improved. (I was inspired to take all the cards down from the tree of dead twigs where they were hanging and check them to see whose names were missing from the collection.)
Then I’m working on my hypochondria – you know, when every twinge seems to herald of paraplegia; my eyes (blind); my hands (numb); my throat (closing in); my hair (falling out) … I could go on, because I’ve managed to overcome the initial prejudice against self-praise and absurd humming, and now perform the process so often that an unseen observer might conclude that I had St Vitus’ Dance.
The inventor of this system started off as an engineer, but gradually became interested in psychology and began to question orthodox treatment and to wonder why patients seldom, if ever, got cured, even after years of treatment. After all, he reasoned, the electrical circuit in the body corresponds to that in any system and now, after 40 years of practising, he has it sussed out. There is a set of tapes that form a course and demonstrate case-histories so, if you want to stop smoking, or drinking, or … you now know what to look for.
Moreover, it is possible to attend occasional public demonstrations by the practitioner, during which he will perform the healing ritual on volunteers.
Just think, if everyone practised it and got rid of their negative emotions, life would be one long party – no more grief, no more fear, or hatred, no more obesity, or anger, No more drunks. Possibly no more homeless, as we will all be free to realise our (glorious) potential.
And all it takes is five minutes ...
