Apartments planned for landmark building in Dundalk
Planning application lodged with Louth County Council
Plans are underway to convert part of a landmark building in Dundalk, 1 Stapleton Place, into apartments.
Caeva O'Callaghan has applied to Louth County Council for planning permission for the change of use of part of the building from offices to four apartments, along with all associated site development works.
1 Stapleton Place is a protected structure, included in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH), and is part of Louth County Council's Record of Protected Structures.
Its description in the Record of Protected Structures, reads, "Corner-sited end-of-terrace three-bay two-storey over basement with attic former house, dated 1834. Full heigtht projecting gabled centre bay to east."
In its appraisal it says that it was "built in 1834 by Thomas Smith, architect of Louth Hospital, its fine design, dominated by projecting gabled-fronts, adds richness and variety to the streetscape.
A decision is due on the planning application by 27 August, with submissions due by 6 August 2023.
