Carlingford to see extra litter collections during weekends in Summer

Louth County Council April meeting
Cllr Antóin Watters has welcomed news that extra litter collections are to take place on Saturdays and Sundays in Carlingford, starting in May and continuing through August.
Cllr Watters had asked at the Louth County Council April meeting if the extra collections would be taking place this year, and also enquired about solar bins for the village, as requested by the local Tidy Towns group.
Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat, Cllr Watters welcomed the news of the extra collections, saying, “that's good news, it'll help support the Tidy Towns group who do trojan work in Carlingford.
“It will be done on a Saturday and Sunday, so its great for tourism and the extra people that will be in the village over weekends.”
Cllr Watters also welcomed the update from the Council on solar bins for the village, who informed him that it is pushing on with their procurement, with Cllr Watters hoping they will be in place in the next couple of months. “They're a big help because there's extra capacity in them”, he added.
