Dundalk Municipal District January meeting

Cllr Maria Doyle made an appeal at the January meeting for Louth County Council to address the road surface problems at the Mounthamilton estate on the Ardee Road in Dundalk.

Cllr Doyle told the meeting that the road “is in such desparately poor condition that it's hardly traversable”.

She went on to say that while she has raised the issue in the past and had been told that there was no funding available, it needs to be prioritised due to the state it was in.

Cllr Doyle added that while she understood that priority had to go to roads that see more traffic, it was just a portion of this road that would require repair and that it was in “desparate need of it”, with the road in danger of becoming a sinkhole.

Cllr Kevin Meenan added his support to Cllr Doyle's request for works, saying that it was no longer a case of there being a hole in the road and more like a road in the hole.

Senior Executive Engineer, Paddy Connolly responded to say that he would look into it to see what could be done.
