Community Policing Van comes to Dundalk

The bus can also be used as a contact point for the public
Dundalk gardai have the use of a new community policing van which allows gardai to locate themselves more centrally in the town and was used during the recent St Brigid’s Festival the most recent JPC meeting was told by Superintendent Charlie Armstrong.
The van can also be used as a contact point for the public who wish to talk with local gardai or get small matters resolved. He said that the van became available as a regional resource under the recently implemented New Operating Model.
The Superintendent was replying to a query from Councillor Conor Keelan on whether any more thought had been given to the possibility of opening a new garda station more centrally in the town noting that space had become available to rent at the Adelphi.
Supt Armstrong said that while he was open to new ideas it would be a question of resources among other things while Chief Superintendent McGovern said that the main station was already located quite close to the town centre.
