Cllr Watters acknowledged gardai have been doing their best to clamp down

Boy racers are still proving a major concern for communities in north Louth according to Councillor Antoin Watters who acknowledged that gardai have been doing their best to clamp down on the activity in conjunction with the PSNI.

Addressing Tuesday's Joint Policing Committee meeting he said that Thursday nights were particularly bad with the noise causing disturbances well into the night.

PSNI Superintendent Norman Haslett who was attending the meeting remarked that recent years have seen collaboration between the two forces which has allowed more effective operations to stop the racers “instead of just chasing them” [over the border].
