In a recent post on the Dundalk Tidytowns Facebook page, the group expressed their frustration and disappointment with an ongoing littering problem plaguing the town posting a picture showing a number of items dumped beside a clothes bank in Dundalk.

"To say we have a problem is putting it mildly. We are sick of seeing this problem in our town," the statement begins.

The post highlights the efforts made by locals to engage with the council to address the issue, emphasising that while the council has committed to clearing the litter, preventative measures are necessary to ensure it does not reoccur.

"We have contacted the council who will clear it but it shouldn’t happen in the first place," the statement continues.

The post also draws attention to the detrimental impact of such irresponsible behaviour, noting that items discarded in this manner, including clothing, often end up in landfills despite the presence of charity shops in the town that could have benefited from these donations.

The statement goes on to question the necessity of clothes banks in the town and encourages residents to utilise local charity shops for their donations instead.

“Do we need clothes banks and if so how many? Please use the charity shops; they will be delighted to receive your donations," the post implores.
