Dundalk Town Centre Commercial Manager Martin McElligott says the messages of goodwill he received when he announced in April that he would be leaving the role, along with the progress made and a strong sense of stakeholder collaboration across Dundalk, helped him decide to remain in the role

Dundalk Business Improvement District Scheme (BIDS) said today that it was pleased to confirm that Martin McElligott will remain in his position as Dundalk Town Centre Commercial Manager.

In April, Martin announced his intention to step down after a decade of service. However, following a period of reflection, he has chosen to remain in the role and further advance the development and promotion of Dundalk town centre.

Martin McElligott said: “When I made the decision in April, I was genuinely moved by the messages of goodwill I received from local businesses, the public, elected representatives, as well as organisations such as Dundalk Chamber and Louth County Council.

“That support, along with the positive progress and a strong sense of stakeholder collaboration across Dundalk gave me much to think about, and after due consideration, I’ve decided to continue the tangible work we’ve started.

“Dundalk has come a long way over the past ten years. It’s a vibrant town that’s very much on the up, and there are a number of important projects already underway and in the pipeline that I’m keen to see through.”

Dundalk BIDS said that it welcomes Martin’s decision and recognises the significant contribution he has made to the transformation of Dundalk town centre.

Chairperson Emma Harte said: “Martin’s leadership and work ethic will help maintain the momentum that has been built up over the past 10 years and help bring key initiatives that support the town’s growth and development to fruition.”
