Embrace Another Day offers alternative to running clubs in Dundalk

Mental health based approach aims to allow people safe space to walk and talk together
A new walking club that aims to offer people a safe space to come to, and walk and talk together to help with their mental wellbeing, has begun in Dundalk, and is inviting local people to come and join with them on their next walk on Sunday 24 November.
Embrace Another Day is a new initiative set up by Kieran Pickering and Laura Jane Hearty, with their first event taking place last Saturday that saw 21 people turn up and join in.
Kieran told the Dundalk Democrat that, "we wanted to create a walking club for people who when free could come down and walk with us and get a lovely coffee before hand too. On the walk we left the Blackthorn Business Park, and simply walked down to the end of the Navvy bank took a group photo has a chat and walked back up.
"The whole point of this is that everywhere you see running clubs and we want to give an alternative. The logic behind wanting to do it is very much mental health based, allowing people a safe space to come to, talk to people and walk together. On the first walk this happened so easily, people interacted with each other and it was incredible to see it happen."
The new walking club's next event is Sunday 24 November. For more details on the walk, search Embrace Another Day on Instagram and Facebook.
The club is also encouraging businesses to come on board to sponsor the coffees, something which a local business has already kindly done for the first walk, and two more have indicated that they would do the same for the next two walks.
