Outcomers’ Operation Rainbow initiative will serve people in Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan

A cross-county project supporting LGBTIQ+ people across Louth and the wider north-east has secured €100,000 in Government funding.

Outcomers’ Operation Rainbow initiative, which will serve communities in Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan, is among 52 projects to benefit from the 2026 LGBTIQ+ Community Services Fund.

The funding was announced by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley as part of a €1.8 million national investment aimed at strengthening services, community infrastructure and inclusion for LGBTIQ+ people.

The funding will support a wide range of organisations nationwide to enhance services, strengthen community infrastructure, and promote inclusion for LGBTIQ+ people. It forms a key part of the National LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy II, which sets out a roadmap to build a safe, fair, and inclusive society where LGBTIQ+ people can live healthy and fulfilling lives.

Minister Foley also published the first Annual Report on the National LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy II (2024–2028).

The Annual Report, covering 2025, highlights significant progress across the Strategy’s key areas. This includes expanded mental health and sexual health supports, increased visibility of LGBTIQ+ people in national data, strengthened protections against harmful content and additional supports delivered across Government to improve wellbeing and participation for LGBTIQ+ people.

The announcement coincides with Pride 2026 and reflects the Government’s continued commitment to advancing equality, protecting rights, and improving the quality of life for LGBTIQ+ people across Ireland.

Minister Foley said:

“This investment of €1.8 million will support 52 organisations delivering vital services to LGBTIQ+ people across Ireland, from rural community spaces to supports for young people, older people and those most at risk of exclusion.

“The first Annual Report of the National LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy II demonstrates the meaningful progress being made across Government and in collaboration with community organisations. While challenges remain, we are committed to continuing this work to ensure that LGBTIQ+ people are safe, supported and fully included in all aspects of society.”

The 2026 Community Services Fund includes two funding streams: larger grants of €25,000 to €100,000 to support established organisations, and smaller grants of €5,000 to €10,000 to promote visibility and inclusion at community level.
