Launch of new Community Climate Action Fund for Louth

€604,000 allocated to the county over the next three years
Louth County Council says it is delighted to announce the commencement of a new Community Climate Action Fund for County Louth, with €604,000 allocated to the county over the next three years.
The fund was announced earlier this year, by Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan. This funding is part of the Community Climate Action Programme, which supports projects and initiatives that facilitate community climate action through education, capacity building and learning by doing.
It will be open to applications from community groups within County Louth. Successful groups awarded funding under this programme will deliver community level climate action projects over the next three years.
These projects are expected to deliver a real climate benefit by reducing carbon emissions. There are five themes under which community groups can apply for funding, including: Community Energy, Travel, Food and Waste, Shopping and Recycling, Local Climate and Environmental Action.
The three funding streams available are as follows: small scale projects <€20,000; medium scale projects €20,000-€50,000 and; large scale projects €51,000-€100,000.
This is a competitive application, process and applicants are assessed and reviewed under criteria by which their projects will be put forward for consideration to the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications.
Community groups who would like to know more on this funding stream or want to send in an Expression of Interest, are asked to see www.louthcoco.ie, email: [email protected] or phone: 042 933 5457.
Applications can be submitted electronically, or in hard copy / by post to County Hall, Millennium Centre, Marshes Lower, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 KFW6.
Please note closing date for applications is 5pm Wednesday 6th March 2024. Louth County Council says that late applications cannot be accepted.
