Louth County Council have agreed the transfer of three sites on Barracks Street in Dundalk, to the Simon Community.

Councillors agreed to the transfer at the monthly Council meeting held on Monday.

It is hoped the move will enable the development of thirty independent living units.

The three sites at  no. 63, 65 and 67 will be sold to the charity at a price of  €211, 237 under the condition the charity obtains the necessary funding to develop the buildings under the Capital Assistance Scheme and begins work within two years.

The premises had originally been acquired by the council in 2017 with the purpose of using them for the Independent living Simon project.
