Louth County Council secures €50,000 for Creative Ireland project

The funding forms part of a €3.7 million national investment
Louth County Council has been awarded €50,000 through the Creative Ireland Programme’s Shared Island strand for Shared Home, Shared Sound, a creative cross-border initiative that will use music, storytelling and shared cultural experiences to strengthen connections between communities across the island of Ireland.
The funding forms part of a €3.7 million national investment announced by Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Patrick O’Donovan TD, supporting local authority-led projects that promote health and wellbeing, creativity and meaningful community engagement. Of this total, €2.3 million is being provided through the Government’s Shared Island Fund to support 16 collaborative projects across Ireland.
Shared Home, Shared Sound will create opportunities for people in Louth and partner communities in Northern Ireland to come together through a shared exploration of place, identity and belonging. By placing creativity and participation at the centre of the project, it will support new relationships, celebrate local voices and build lasting cultural connections across the border.
Nineteen local authorities will receive funding to deliver a broad range of health and wellbeing projects in collaboration with the HSE through creativity and community engagement, including three cross-border Shared Island projects.
Speaking today, Minister O’Donovan said:
“I am delighted to announce this significant investment of €3.7 million, which reflects our belief in the transformative impact of creativity on people’s lives.
“By supporting local authorities and community partners, we are enabling creative opportunities that are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of communities across the island of Ireland.
“I look forward to seeing these innovative and collaborative projects develop through this significant funding which includes €2.3 million in Shared Island funding.”
