Louth greenway closure announced for Narrow Water Bridge project works

Louth County Council confirms diversion routes as closure takes effect from May
Louth County Council has announced plans to temporarily close a section of the Carlingford Lough Greenway to facilitate works associated with the Narrow Water Bridge project.
The closure will affect the stretch of the greenway from a point 650 metres northwest of its junction with the L7051 to a point 2.4 kilometres southeast of Victoria Lock. The restrictions will apply to pedestrian and cyclist traffic at all times from Tuesday, May 26, 2026, for a period of five weeks.
During the closure, diversion routes will be put in place. Northbound users will be redirected via the L7051, continuing along the R179 and Fathom Line towards Victoria Lock. Southbound traffic will follow the Fathom Line and R179 before rejoining the L7051 to access the greenway.
Local and emergency access will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.
