We conducted a number of online polls on louthlive.ie in which we asked potential voters to answer a number of simple questions.

Ahead of tomorrow's General Election, reporters and photographers from the Dundalk Democrat have been out and about in Dundalk and across the Louth constituency bringing you the latest from the campaign trial.

In addition to gauging people’s views in local communities, towns and villages, we have also conducted a number of online polls - on louthlive.ie - in which we asked potential voters to answer a number of simple questions.

Early on in the campaign, we asked what the most important issue is for voters in County Louth.

Of the choices offered, immigration, housing and health were each selected by 25% of those who replied while 12.5% indicated the most important issue to them is climate action.

As the campaign progressed, the state of the economy came to the fore nationally so we asked what people what they think has impacted their standard of living the most?

More than a third (37.5%) said inflation and the increased cost of living has had the most impact while a quarter of those who took part blamed the increase in house prices and monthly rents. Another 25% said Covid-19 and its aftermath has impacted their living standard the most while 12.5% of people said a lack of government support was the biggest factor.

When it comes to the campaign itself, two thirds of those polled stated the Leaders’ Debate on RTÉ, featuring representatives from ten political parties and groups, will have an influence on how they vote on Friday while the remaining third said it would have no impact.

The final poll, which was conducted seven days before polling day, asked people which political party they were likely to vote for on November 29.

The Green Party attracted the most support from those who took part in the poll, followed closely by Sinn Fein with Fianna Fail and Fine Gael completing the top four.

With a population of just over 156,000 people, voters in Louth will be asked to elect five TDs to the 34th Dail when they go to the polls tomorrow, Friday.

Voting takes place between 7am and 10pm.
