Planning refused for apartments at Francis Street in Dundalk

Louth County Council refuses planning permission
Louth County Council has refused planning permission for new apartments at a former well known pub at Francis Street in Dundalk.
Shane Mc Guinness applied to Louth County Council for planning permission in August for the change of use of a former public house/nightclub at 3a Francis Street, Dundalk to aseven self-contained residential units and one commercial unit.
The planning application also provided for a new shopfront, internal alterations and extensions to the rear of the premises.
The premises changed hands several times over the years, and was previously known as the Francis Street Inn, Lawlors, and in the mid 2000's as Good Time Charlie's. It was also renamed as Hannigan's, The Bar and also Mr B's Disco Bar.
The public house has been closed for some time now, prior to it closing, it was known as Nikita's Country Bar.
Louth County Council made the decision to refuse planning on 13 October, for reasons including, “it has not been demonstrated through the submitted details that the proposal for seven residential units and a ground floor commercial unit would create a quality residential development”.
