Plans for 115 new homes in Muirhevnamor in Dundalk

Mix of houses and apartments

Plans are underway for a Large-scale Residential Development (LRD) at Muirhevnamor in Dundalk, that could see 115 new homes being constructed.

Cluid Housing Association is seeking the go ahead for the LRD, that would comprise 56 houses and 59 apartments being built, should it be granted planning permission.

The application is at the second stage of the LRD process, where Louth County Council has issued an opinion as to whether the proposal constitutes a reasonable basis to make an LRD planning application.

The LRD application process generally consists of four stages -

  • Stage 1: Pre- application Section 247 consultation with the planning authority to afford a prospective applicant an opportunity to seek advice from the local authority on any planning matters that may have a bearing on the decision of the application.
  • Stage 2: LRD meeting with the Planning Authority for the purpose of receiving an ‘LRD opinion’ recommending whether “the proposal constitutes a reasonable basis for submitting an LRD planning application” under Section 32(D) of the Planning and Development Act, 2000-2021.
  • Stage 3: Forming and Issuing by the local authority of an LRD Opinion
  • Stage 4: LRD Application

Once an LRD planning application has been submitted, members of the public, prescribed bodies and elected local authority members are able to make observations on the proposed development. Anybody other than the applicant can make a submission/ observation on a planning application.

Louth County Council issued an LRD Opinion for the development at Muirhevnamor on 21 February.
