Spring is in the air with children’s events at Marshes in Dundalk

Spring is in the air for young people at Marshes Shopping Centre in Dundalk, where a series of events and competitions will mark St Patrick’s Day and Mother’s Day, along with the return of the ever-popular Little Monsters Kids’ Club.

St Patrick’s weekend will be celebrated at Marshes on Saturday 18 March, with entertainment for children between 12 noon and 3.00pm. It includes leprechaun slime making and a treasure hunt, a craft workshop, a green candyfloss giveaway, games, music and Paw Patrol lookalike characters.

To celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday 19 March, the centre has invited local primary schools to take part in a "Put Mam in the Picture" art competition. The competition involves students drawing/painting a picture of their mother, grandmother, auntie or guardian on an A4 page. 

It is open to children aged between eight and ten, with prizes on offer for both the school and student. Winning artworks will be framed for students to keep and entries will be displayed on the Marshes mall until Sunday, March 19.

The Little Monsters Kids’ Club returns on Saturday 25 March, with DJ Anna, between 12 noon and 3.00pm. Suitable for ages three and over, the club takes place on the last Saturday of each month.

Children will receive a passport to fun which will be stamped each time they visit to ensure they receive Little Monsters-branded merchandise after six visits. This month, there will be superheroes, storytelling and treasure hunts. 

According to centre manager Sean Farrell, Marshes is very happy to mark the coming of spring with a series of events for children.

“These are great opportunities for children to have a super time,” he said. “We are looking forward to welcoming children and parents for our St Patrick’s celebrations, our Mother’s Day art competition and the Little Monsters Kids’ Club.”
