Louth County Council March meeting

Trees that were cut down at Mount Avenue in Dundalk to facilitate the Mount Avenue Link Road works, will be replaced with indigenous species, Louth Councillors were told at the Louth County Council March meeting.

Cllr Marianne Butler raised the issue at the March meeting, commenting that some hedgerow, vegetation and trees had been removed to facilitate the works, and asked would regulations that require the replacement of trees and hedgerow with indigenous species and a certain ratio come into force at this location.

In response, Director of Services, Catherine Duff said that the original Part 8 planning permission for the works Mount Avenue was granted under the old Town Council and the developer would have to comply with the terms of that planning.

She added however, that that the trees at Mount Avenue would be replaced with indigenous species and she would clarify what the ratio would be.
