The High Flyers have completed their sky dive task and distributed the significant funds they raised to two worthwhile charities.
The sky dive was completed and monies distributed all in memory of Cillian Russell from Carrick-beg, Carrick-on-Suir who sadly passed away in January 2020.
He was one of a set of triplets and a much loved pupil of Scoil Aonghusa in Cashel.
At an event at the Talbot Hotel, Cillian’s parents and siblings were present along with Honorary Garda Alex Buckley, a Little Blue Hero and his mum Maggie, dad Michael and his brother and sister.
Also in attendance was Honorary Garda Joey Moss and his mum Dervla along with his nanny Helen.
The Mayor of Clonmel Cllr Patrick English was also present.
He commended the fantastic work both of these amazing charities do for so many children and their families throughout the country, by granting wishes and making precious memories for many as well as providing practical help and support.
Michelle and Michael Russell were delighted to present the cheques to both charities in memory of their beautiful son Cillian.
The total amount raised by The High Flyers was an amazing €17,000, thereby giving Little Blue Heroes €8,500 and Make-A-Wish €8,500.
Garda Claire Murphy accepted the cheque on behalf of the Little Blue Heroes and spoke so passionately about her involvement in this organisation and how grateful they are to receive such a donation after what has been a very hard couple of years as Covid hindered a lot of fundraising events that would otherwise have taken place.
Diane O’Dea accepted the cheque on behalf of the Make-A-Wish foundation and again she was delighted to receive this donation which will go towards making other dreams come true for these amazing children and their families.
Both charities have helped Cillian and his family create wonderful memories that they will hold forever in their hearts.
The High Flyers present on the night paid tribute to both charities for the amazing work they do and felt truly honoured to be a small part of making the magic happen.
“It was a privilege for us to remember Cillian and indeed all our little Scoil Aonghusa heroes who are forever watching over us all now from their heavenly home,” said one of the sky dive group.
“We would all like to thank everyone for their sponsorship, encouragement and support throughout our fundraising. They are the ones who helped us to make it all possible and for that we are truly grateful. A big thank you to our friends in the Talbot Hotel for accommodating us on the night of the presentation also,” said a member of the sky dive group.
