LATEST UPDATE: Pumps run dry in Cahir as Dublin talks continue

Protesters say they are in 'for the long haul'

On the M8, protesters say they are in for the long haul and are awaiting news as talks continue in Dublin.

The motorway exits to Mitchelstown and Clonmel are blocked, and at 12.30 today, one eye witness confirmed thqy Top Oil on the Cashel Road has no petrol or diesel, and are waiting for a delivery hopefully today, but maybe Monday.

The Applegreen on Clonmel Road has no petrol or diesel likewise and are waiting on a delivery, possibly Monday too.

Texaco Service Station on Mitchelstown Road (O'Donnell's Daybreak) has diesel but not petrol, as pumps are airlocked and wont be fixed till next week.

Finally, Eamon Gleesons Tyres has very a limited supply of petrol and diesel, and earlier today were only allowing €20 fills.

Meanwhile, RTÉ reports that the talks in Dublin include a package that will include a temporary Fuel Support Scheme aimed at the haulage, agri-business and contractor sectors.

Some details have emerged, including a temporary Fuel Support Scheme to assist farmers, hauliers and contractors most impacted by the rise in fuel costs.

Speaking to RTÉ, Government sources say the scheme will be targeted at those directly involved in Ireland's food supply chains and will also include fisheries and agribusinesses.

Full details have not been finalised, but it is understood supports will come in the form of direct payments, and be temporary.

The fuel protests are entering their fifth day today.
