Clare choir 'Czechs' out as they hit all the right notes in Prague

Killaloe male voice choir come home with awards from international festival
One Clare choir’s talent clearly ‘Czech-ed’ out as they hit all the right notes at the Prague International Choral Festival.
The Killaloe Male Voice Choir proudly returned home from a trip to the Czech Republic earlier this November with two bronze awards.
They competed with 18 choirs from 10 different countries and were awarded in two categories - folk and sacred music.
Their performances featured selections like Mo Ghile Mear, Carrickfergus, Ubi Caritas and Sunset Poem, demonstrating the choir’s musical versatility.
On top of winning the awards, the choir were also invited to a reception at the Irish Embassy.
It was hosted by Alan Gibbons, Ireland's Ambassador to the Czech Republic, at which they performed some Irish pieces.
“We’re thrilled by this achievement,” said Pat Carroll, the choir's public relations officer.
“It reflects the choir’s talent and hard work under the expert guidance of musical director, Anne Cullen.”
Its repertoire draws on classical and contemporary pieces in four parts. A community choir, the group performs regularly for local charity and fundraising events at St Flannan’s Cathedral in Killaloe as well for Limerick Mental Health Week.
They are also regular participants in both the Killaloe Music Festival and Limerick Sings, and are looking forward to performing in the weeks ahead of Christmas.
