Clare election candidate pushes for more investment in local town

Fifth largest town in the country is in Clare and has 'huge potential'
A PUSH to get more investment into one Clare town is on, as Minister for Housing, Heritage and Local Government Darragh O'Brien TD made a visit.
Fianna Fáil local election candidate and Newmarket On Fergus native, David Griffin welcomed his colleague the Minister O'Brien to the village on Friday last to push for higher investment in the area.
Mr Griffin said: "I was delighted to have the Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien TD visit Newmarket-on-Fergus village this week. The first cabinet Minister in the village for quite some time.
"I was eager to get the Minister into the village to show the huge potential we have for investment and for future development.
"We are fifth largest town in the county, with proper investment and forward planning we have the potential to thrive. National funding for housing, waste water infrastructure and a town centre first planning approach will be key."
Mr Griffin was 'delighted' to welcome the Minister on the ground of the Clare town, to showcase the need for a Town Centre First model for Newmarket-on-Fergus.
The Town Centre First model is an Irish government policy that aims to create town centres that function as viable, vibrant and attractive locations for people to live, work and visit, while also functioning as the service, social, cultural and recreational hub for the local community.
