Clare man to make a little bit of history with unique British 'pilgrimage'

A CLARE man is to make a little bit of history next year when he will lead a unique 'pilgrimage' to north-west England.
Scariff man James Treacy will head a group of 30 people from Limerick, Clare and across Ireland on a trip to Liverpool and Manchester in February 2024.
Their trip will take in the Mersey city's Metropolitan Cathedral, the home of the soccer club Liverpool FC, Anfield, Manchester United's stadium Old Trafford.
As well as this, they will see the museum dedicated to chart-topping band the Beatles in Liverpool, while there iwll also be a tour of the city's Mathew Street where the group first played.
The mega trip will conclude with a Mass celebrated at the Archbishop of Liverpool in the city's Cathedral.
Last week, pilgrimage organiser James, a photographer by trade, travelled to Liverpool with former classmate Niall Bolton to attend the Liverpool Beer Festival which this year was run in aid of Motor Neuron Disease and is held annually in the Crypt in the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral - better known as Paddy’s Wigwam Cathedral in Liverpool.
As for the night out entertainment, the 1990s disco Popworlld will be its venue, alongside the famous Cavern Bar in Mathew Street where the Beatles first played as a band.
The opulent Philharmonic Bar in Hope Street in Liverpool city centre will also get a visit from the pilgrims.
