Met Éireann warns of winds of up to 110kph in Limerick

MET ÉIREANN has issued a wind warning for Limerick.
The caution which is in place until 1pm, warns of very strong north-west to northerly winds with gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour in the province.
It has warned this Saturday morning of falling branches, damage to temporary structures and difficult travelling conditions.
The weather warning covers Limerick and the other Munster counties alongside Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford.
There were previously hopes Limerick would avoid the worst of the wet and windy weather, with the Treaty County and Donegal the only two not flagged by Met Eireann as being susceptible to wind or rain.
That all changed overnight. On Friday night, many of the first round games in Limerick's senior county hurling championship - including Patrickswell's defeat of Na Piarsaigh - saw heavy rainfall.
The news comes after the wettest July since records began, surpassing that of 2009.
