A NEW SHORT film, which depicts the lives of people and their relationship with the River Shannon, is being screened for the first time for its launch.

RISING is part documentary, part visual poem and it depicts individuals and families as they emerge from the silt, covered in the river mud, returning to their everyday lives. It is filmed along the Shannon Estuary and was created by Cork born artist, William Bock.

Following this screening, Kildysart local Fintan Ginnane and his son Fergal will showcase their handmade Gandelow boat. There will be a discussion on traditional boat-building craft and the heritage of the families who once lived on the islands of the Shannon Estuary in County Clare.

The exhibition is entitled River Residencies and is taking place in Curragower Boat Club in Merchant’s Quay in Limerick on March 25 at 6:30pm and is being held by cultural resource centre, Ormston House.
