He was well known to gardai and served time in prison. Mr Bailey lived in Castleconnell for a period before moving to Dublin.
There were three men, including Mr Bailey, and a woman present at the time of the fatal incident. It is believed one of the men stabbed Mr Bailey before fleeing the scene.
It was described as a “violent domestic row which ended in a fatal stabbing on a Dublin residential street”.
A garda spokesperson said this Thursday: “Gardaí continue to investigate a fatal assault which occurred at Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7, in the early hours of Sunday, October 18, 2026.
“Gardaí have arrested an adult male, aged in his late teens, in connection with this investigation, today, Thursday, November 5.”
The male is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
“Investigations are ongoing,” said the garda spokesperson.
Mr Bailey, a father-of-three and grandfather-of-one, was laid to rest in Mount St. Oliver Cemetery after funeral Mass in St John’s Cathedral on Monday, October 26.
