Stunning new art exhibition dedicated to the late Manchán Magan comes to Clare

This exhibition explores the play of light, colour and shape in the Irish landscape through the lens of the Irish language
Clare County Council’s Arts Office, in conjunction with Edna O’Brien Library, is hosting a new exhibition until January 10, 2026.
Sharon Ní Chuilibín’s ‘Le Solas: With Light’ opened with a special live music performance on December 4 in the Scarriff library gallery.
This exhibition explores the play of light, colour and shape in the Irish landscape through the lens of the Irish language with drawings, paintings and guided audio meditation.
Mayo native Sharon Ní Chuilibín’s artwork is inspired by the wild and colourful landscape of her home, inviting connection to the living earth, local heritage and the Irish language.
Her creative offerings include visual art, original music, poetry, songwriting, film and performance. Some of her recent exhibitions include 'Teacht i dTír | Coming onto Land’ (Áras Inis Gluaire, 2022) and a group show, ‘Scéal Mhapáil: Mapping Stories’ (Linenhall Gallery, Castlebar, 2025).
Also working as a teacher, facilitator and artist in schools, Sharon collaborates with children both through visual art, as well as composing songs in Irish and English.
She studied and achieved a BA in Fine Art and Art History at NCAD in Dublin in 2004, further achieving a MA in Ethnomusicology at UCC in 2008.
‘Le Solas: With Light’ is dedicated to the late Manchán Magan.
