WATCH: Play which highlights life with mental health disorder comes to Clare

A ONE WOMAN show called OCD Me is coming to Clare for secondary school and general audiences.

The Cultúrlann Sweeney, Kilkee will host two shows on Thursday, October 26 in the morning at 11am and the evening, 7:30pm.

Written and directed by Aisling Smith and performed by Laura Whelan, ‘OCD Me’ is a play about living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Based on Aisling’s own experiences, this autobiographical show gives an honest but fun account of the condition.

Just Friends Theatre Collective are presenting the show to the people of Clare. In light of world mental health month, the play "seeks to combat the misunderstanding and misappropriation that surround the disorder in popular culture".

Having been clinically diagnosed with the condition in 2008, Aisling used her time during the Covid-19 pandemic and an Arts Council grant to bring the production to fruition.

Debuting the show at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Aisling and Laura received critical acclaim and in the past year, they have presented it in several venues, and are 'delighted' to be now touring the show for secondary school groups and general audiences across Ireland.
