The young man's funeral Mass will take place on Saturday morning in Templeglantine

HUNDREDS of touching tributes have been paid to the late Brendan Brosnan who will be laid to rest on Saturday.

The young man from Templeglantine in West Limerick tragically passed away in a workplace accident in Athea on Monday. He was working on a mini-digger in a derelict house at the time.

Councillor and publican Adam Teskey and Josie, of The Pub in The Raheenagh, wished to extend their deepest and sincerest sympathies to Brendan’s family.

“He was a lovely, lovely young lad. We enjoyed his presence immensely when he frequented our pub. His loss will be a severe blow to the local community and to the people of his age group.

"Our heartfelt condolences go to his family and friends,” said Cllr Teskey, who added that all their customers will miss Brendan, aged only in his early 20s.

“We fondly remember his hearty laugh. He was a young fellow that had an immense interest in cars and anything to do with machinery and tractors. We would often have a chat about machinery and farming.

“He always had grease on his hands - he was very hard working. Being a local county councillor and publican, I would like to extend my sincerest condolences,” said Cllr Teskey.

Brendan is predeceased by his grandparents Kate and Johnny Delee, Christy Brosnan and cousin Denis McElligott.

Brendan will be forever missed by his heartbroken parents, Catherine and Brendan, loving brothers Christoper and Eoin, adored sisters Ciara, Aoife, Sinead and Katie, his girlfriend Megan, Ciara’s boyfriend Evan, grandmother Kathleen Brosnan, aunts, uncles, cousins, all his other relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends.

Reposal took place at his home in Meenoline, Templeglantine on Thursday evening.

In the 11 pages of condolences on rip.ie, one man wrote that while travelling to Dublin on Thursday evening he came across miles and miles of cars parked along the main road.

“When I saw the hundreds of people queuing up and realised it was a wake I thought to myself, whoever had passed must have touched a lot of people in their life.

“Deepest condolences to Brendan's family on his tragic passing. I hope you find some solace seeing the outpouring of grief for your son, clearly proving what an amazing person he was,” he wrote.

One person said Brendan was “a smashing young man and we are all heartbroken at his tragic death” while another spoke of “the heartbreaking loss of your gorgeous boy Brendan with that smile and beautiful nature”.

“His sad loss is so deeply felt by all who knew him,” they said.

Removal on Saturday to The Church of The Most Holy Trinity, Templeglantine to arrive for Requiem Mass at 11am. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Reilig na Tríonóide.

May Brendan rest in peace.
