A YOUNG Limerick artist has designed the branding for Ireland's first Health Equity Region.
Abdul Rahman Mustafa - a 4th-class pupil from CBS Primary School in Limerick City – created the winning design, as one of over 150 participants.
A unique art competition was launched in primary schools across the county this spring, calling on young creatives to design the first draft of a logo reflecting the Health Equity Region’s vision of continuous engagement with school communities, in order to design programmes and initiatives that benefit children and their families.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, visited Abdul’s class to congratulate him on his achievement, and to talk to pupils about the class’s special contribution to the Limerick Health Equity Region.
“When we are making decisions for the future of communities in Limerick, we want to make those decisions with them rather than for them", the Mayor said. "That is why it is so important that the Limerick Health Equity Region has involved children from across our city in creating its identity with this competition. These children will help shape Limerick’s future", Mr Moran concluded.
A graphic designer from the TUS-Limerick School of Art and Design will professionally render the final version of the logo, working with the successful young Limerick artist.
