A MURROE man was before a judge for trespassing and getting into a vehicle without consent.

Garry Ryan, aged 29, of Gilmartin Park, Murroe pleaded guilty, at Kilmallock Court, to the offences which occurred in Oola on August 9, 2022.

Inspector Gearoid Thompson said gardai on patrol received a report of two trespassing incidents - Shanaclough, Oola and Ashfield, Ballylahiff, Oola.

“One of the injured parties provided CCTV and Mr Ryan was identified. He was on their property without permission. He was arrested, interviewed and he made admissions. He was in a garden acting in a suspicious manner,” said Insp Thompson.

Regarding getting into a vehicle without consent, Insp Thompson said the defendant was “rummaging through a work van”.

The court heard Mr Ryan has a number of previous convictions including for possession and sale or supply of drugs, criminal damage and road traffic.

Con Barry, solicitor for Mr Ryan, handed up two letters from a treatment centre his client is attending to Judge Patricia Harney.

“He is doing very well. He was homeless at the time and was addicted to tablets,” said Mr Barry.

Judge Harney requested a pre-sanctioned report from the Probation Service and adjourned the case to July.
