The public meeting in Charleville takes place on Wednesday, September 23 for traffic plans for the Cork town on the Limerick border

THERE will be a public meeting in the Charleville Park Hotel on Wednesday next, September 23 at 7pm about traffic management.

Charleville Community Forum are calling for a ring-road to be fast-tracked, saying that the town cannot wait for a motorway.

The group wants adequate Government funding to progress the project, urgent interim traffic management measures in the town and action on HGV traffic and congestion.

The forum argue that while the Cork to Limerick motorway remains in planning stages, Charleville needs action now.

They are looking for a public report on the investigation and monitoring of air quality and traffic related noise, as well as improved pedestrian and public transport infrastructure.

The forum is also seeking “clear, unambiguous information from Government, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Cork County Council and other relevant project teams regarding funding, dates and delivery.”

A spokesperson said: “Charleville has waited long enough. Charleville cannot wait. The call to Government is simple - fund it, fast track it, deliver it.”

The public meeting is on in the Charleville Park Hotel on Wednesday, September 23 at 7pm and all are welcome.
