Clash of the 'mash': Tempers boil over as saucepan and hurley used in Limerick altercation

Incident occurred in the shadow of St John's Cathedral
A VIDEO of an altercation involving two men, armed with a child's hurley and saucepan, had all the ingredients to go viral.
The short clip has been "forwarded many times" on WhatsApp.
The incident, which is believed to have occurred on Thursday, August 1 takes place at Cathedral Place in Limerick city in the shadow of St John's Cathedral.
It features two men grappling and endeavouring to strike each other with their weapons of choice. There are a number of onlookers with one giving a running commentary, "Go on, that's the job, go on, use the pot you stupid b*****d".
The saucepan goes clattering to the ground at one stage and the other man seizes his opportunity to strike the potless man with his hurley a number of times. Both men then go their separate ways.
Limerick Live contacted gardai to see if a complaint was made however they said there had been "no reports".
One person who contacted Limerick Live about the video said: "This is broad daylight and you have two men fighting with a hurley and a pot. What if tourists on their way to the cathedral had seen this?
"It looks harmless enough but what if it had escalated and one of them fell and hit their head on the kerb?"
