‘Come meet us’: Shock as men armed with handguns and iron bars walk through Limerick streets in daylight

Around 50 masked men armed with handguns, shotguns, slash hooks and iron bars were seen walking on the Childers Road
GARDAI in Limerick are said to be on high alert after a Limerick Traveller feud erupted over the weekend.
It culminated on Sunday evening, August 16, when around 50 masked men armed with handguns, shotguns, slash hooks and iron bars were seen walking on the Childers Road towards the Tipperary Roundabout on the outskirts of the city.
Disturbing videos which appear to show the incident are now being circulated widely across social media.
It was still bright as motorists on the busy route looked on in disbelief at what was happening before their eyes.
A video was streamed live on social media as they shouted threats and showed their weapons to the camera. Some statements included: “Come on, come meet us”, “Bring as many as you want”, “We’re making our way to you boys” and “We’re not f**king bothered about the guards.”
During this live broadcast, a member of the large group waved his firearm to the camera, to which another said, “There’s a lot more in there as well.”
Numerous videos from both sides of the feud have been shared on social media.
It is understood that this is a long-running simmering feud between two rival Traveller factions in Limerick.
It appears that an incident in a graveyard may have sparked the reignition.
There are videos showing firearms being discharged at the Tipperary Roundabout on Saturday night / early hours of Sunday morning. However, a garda spokesperson said they have not received any reports of the incident.
There are also videos from one side posted from a Limerick graveyard.
An Garda Siochana have been contacted for comment.
