Excitement as Limerick school prepares to host first Christmas fair since Covid
A SURE sign that Christmas is on the horizon is the famous Coca Cola ad on our TVs, Mariah Carey on the radio and Bilboa National School’s Christmas fair.
It takes place this Sunday, November 20 from 2pm in the community centre in Cappamore. A fixture on the calendar prior to Covid, it is now back with a festive bang.
Marie Mulcahy, a member of the parents council who run the event, said there is “so much happening this year”. She’s not wrong as they have pulled out all the stops for their first Christmas fair since 2019.
One item sure to sell out is magic reindeer food! You sprinkle it on the lawn on Christmas Eve and it will definitely attract Rudolph, Vixen, Dasher et al to land outside your home.
“There will be bric-a-brac, crafts, Christmas decorations, cakes and lots of sweet treats, toys, books, fuel and, of course, the famous spin the wheel with fantastic prizes and hampers to be won,” said Ms Mulcahy.
There will also be a Christmas raffle with more amazing prizes to be won on the day and even a hang tough competition for all ages.
Last but by no means least, Santa and Mrs Claus will be dropping by to meet all the good boys and girls.
Bilboa National School pupils have been busy preparing posters and the prize winners have been announced as follows: Roisin Ryan, sixth class; Rory McCarthy, fifth class; Lauren Heney, sixth class; Maggie Rose Halligan Curtin. fifth class; Tom Earlie, fourth class and Mia O’Toole, fourth class (all pictured above).
The money raised from the Christmas Fair on Sunday is going towards a new astroturf pitch at Bilboa National School. The event in the community centre allows you to get your Christmas present shopping done in November and all for a good cause.
