New initiative introduced in the hopes it will help more businesses

A SOCIAL enterprise founded by friends from West Limerick has introduced a ‘fast-track’ service in the hope of helping more charities.

Up to now, Let’s Fund It has worked hand-in-hand with charities providing donations-in-kind through gifts.

Instead of just giving cash, the team asks local charities what specific goods, equipment or supplies their service user need the most, before sourcing the items and delivering them directly.

But now, following feedback from some of the businesses which regularly donate, a new fund has been launched, which will see Let’s Fund It donate cash funds directly to charities – without donating items-in kind.

Chairperson Stephen Ryan-Doyle said: “The Good Fund is building an exciting network of engaged donors that want full transparency when it comes to their donations. As a Limerick-based charity we are hoping that the people of Limerick and Limerick businesses will back our charity fund that’ll no doubt support a lot of the charities in our county.”

Secretary David Walsh added: “We are delighted to introduce The Good Fund initiative which will allow Let’s Fund It to promptly and efficiently support multiple charities. Donors have the peace of knowing that their important donation will not just help the one, but the many.”

Anyone who does make a donation automatically becomes a member of Let’s Fund It, and they will have access to a portal.

For example, any company which holds a charity bake sale in November, could theoretically see that their donation to Let’s Fund It is still being used the following spring.

They can share progress updates with their teams.

There is no set amount to give, with any donor choosing what they can afford.

Chairperson Stephen described it as a “fast-track” version of Let’s Fund Me, and said it was introduced following feedback from some businesses, which did not have time to identify items and donate them through the group.

It’s meant the group has been able to respond quicker to requests.
