Na Piarsaigh had scored the opening five points but Kilmallock have fought back to hold a three-point lead

KILMALLOCK hold a 0-12 to 0-9 over Na Piarsaigh at half time of the WhiteBox Limerick Senior Hurling Championship final at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

Two excellent scores from Conor Boylan and others from Keith Dempsey, Peter Casey and Ronan Lynch saw Shane O’Neill’s side into a great start against the breeze.

However, Kilmallock slowly built into the half with Shane O’Brien landing their first point after 10 minutes.

Kilmallock had shot three early wides but the radar improved thanks to efforts from Pierce Connery and Graeme Mulcahy to bring the Na Piarsaigh advantage back to two by the 17 minute mark.

Dempsey put the Caherdavin side 0-8 to 0-5 in front but it was all Kilmallock from there as they took advantage of the conditions.,

The game was level after 25 minutes thanks to two Phelim O’Reilly strikes and a long range Conor Hanley-Clarke free.

A Connery free put Kilmallock in front for the first time and he added another before Peter Casey responded.

However, it was Kilmallock that went into the break three ahead after further placed balls from Hanley-Clarke and Connery placed balls.
