Gardai attend protest over smarter travel measures in Limerick

GARDAI were called to the scene of a protest against planned smarter travel work on the northside of Limerick.
Work was halted at the junction of Mayorstone and Shelbourne Road on Thursday.
The proposed project, being delivered by Limerick City and County Council's Active Travel team, is designed to provide a safe route to school.
Works include the widening of footpaths and are designed to facilitate children at Gaelscoil Sáirséal walking and cycling safely to school.
A garda spokesperson confirmed to Limerick Live that officers attended the incident for a short time.
"Gardai attended the scene of a protest at Mayorstone Drive, Limerick city on Thursday November 17 at approximately 10am. No offences were disclosed," she stated.
Limerick Live has approached the local authority for comment.
