Gardai warn of scammers posing as market researchers in Limerick
GARDAÍ have issued advice to the public after an increase in scammers posing as market researchers.
Garda John Finnerty from Henry Street garda station said that Ireland has legitimate market research agencies that conduct interviews, most of the time in people's own homes.
However, there have been a number of con men who have been impersonating these interviewers recently.
"The con men have asked the respondents for their PPS numbers. This is something that employees of legitimate market research agencies would never do", said Garda Finnerty.
"Employees of legitimate market research agencies always carry ID. If you are asked to participate in such a survey, always ask the interviewer for ID. The interviewer won’t have a difficulty with this. "
