Golf classic tees-off to raise funds for Limerick Civic Trust

LIMERICK Civic Trust will next month host their annual golf classic fundraiser.
Players will tee off on Friday, April 21, at Limerick Golf Club in Ballyclough.
They will be competing for the Denis Leonard Perpetual Trophy, named in honour of the man who founded the Civic Trust 40 years ago this year.
Entry costs €400 for a team of three, and all money raised will go to supporting the work of the Civic Trust which is based at the Bishop’s Palace near King John’s Castle in the city centre.
The trust exists to undertake projects which improve Limerick’s environment.
At the moment, the charity is bidding to raise €350,000 to allow a new military museum open.
Chief executive David O’Brien described the fundraiser as being “vital” for the trust.
“It’s very important,” he said. “Without this, we would hurt. Before we even get to projects, the overheads have gone crazy. Even the cost of maintaining things, insurance prices are three-times what they used to be. Then we had no income during Covid-19, so we are still trying to pay catch-up on this.”

The Civic Trust will be holding a series of events to mark its 40th anniversary throughout this summer.
