Heating oil thieves hit Limerick hall, again

CALLOUS thieves in Limerick have been accused of stealing from their very own community.
Kilmallock and District Community Council say they are dismayed after they have been targeted yet again.
On the community council’s Facebook page, a post reads: “Unfortunately, the People’s Hall has been broken into again. It is the fourth time in the last two years. This time the kerosene we had delivered last Thursday (February 9) has been taken and the property has been damaged again.”
The cost of the oil and the damage to the tank runs into the hundreds of euros. They, like all voluntary organisations, are trying to get back on their feet after the financial impact of covid-19.
“The hall is owned by the community so any damage or theft to the hall is the same as attacking the community.
“We would ask the perpetrators to show respect for the people of Kilmallock and their property,” reads the post on the community council’s Facebook page.
Gardai in Kilmallock are investigating. Anybody who may be able to assist them in their enquiries is asked to contact 061 382940.
They are not the only community organisation to be hit in recent years as the local CE scheme, soccer club and church have all been hit by thieves. The godless criminals even took the coin box for lighting candles in memory of loved ones or for special intentions.
