Hired wood chipper stolen outside Limerick home prompts garda appeal

Thieves broke through a gate and would have towed it away using a vehicle
A LARGE wood chipper, that weighs 750kg, was stolen from a house in Limerick city and has prompted a garda appeal.
Gardaí in Limerick city are appealing to the public to come forward with information regarding a theft from a house in the Ballysimon area.
During the night of Wednesday, October 4 and Thursday, October 5, an orange Timberwolf wood chipper that was on hire from a company was stolen from outside the front of a house.
“The gate to the house was locked with a pad lock but criminals broke through,” said Sergeant Ber Leetch, crime prevention officer at Henry St garda station.
“It is a 750kg Timberwolf wood chipper that is orange in colour. It had to be towed by a vehicle to move it,” she said.
This type of machinery, depending on size and brand, can cost more than €20,000 to buy.
Gardaí are now appealing to the public for information on this theft, and said that they should contact any Limerick garda station if they “are offered a Timberwolf wood chipper to buy”.
