Limerick alive with sound of music as two big bands set to play this weekend

SATURDAY night fever is forecast for Limerick this weekend as two major bands are set to take the city by storm in two key locations.
Officially sold-out, the Wolfe Tones are set to rock TUS Gaelic Grounds, while The Coronas are taking to the stage at King John’s Castle in what is being sold as an “unforgettable day and night of music”.
The Wolfe Tones’ concert is set to be the band's biggest headline outdoor event this summer.
The gig will feature special guests and is set to kickoff at 3pm on Saturday, August 26.
Special guests George Murphy and The Rising Sons, Michael Maloney and Cailíní Lua will join the folk trio, the Wolfe Tones, on stage.
Following on from a sold-out USA and Irish tour, the band will perform in front of thousands in Limerick’s home of hurling on the Ennis Road.
Making another appearance in the Treaty county, Michael Maloney has a firm place in Limerick hearts after his song ‘What Do You Want To Know?’ was labelled as the senior hurling champions’ ‘theme song’ this year.
The Wolfe Tones are currently celebrating their 58th year and will reaffirm their iconic status by performing in front of over 5,000 people.
Across the Shannon waters, The Coronas will take centre stage at King John’s Castle at 7pm for their Live at the Castle gig.
Tickets have also sold out for this concert.
