Limerick council to open collection points to recycle real Christmas trees
LIMERICK householders are being encouraged to dispose of their real Christmas trees in an environmentally-friendly way following the festive season.
The local authority has announced that four recycling points will be operating at amenity sites across the county - in Mungret, Kilmallock, Newcastle West and Gortadroma - until the end of January and that two trees will be accepted per car.
In addition, Limerick City and County Council says it will also set up three collection points where people can drop off their Christmas Trees for recycling.
The collection points will be open from 9.30am until 3pm on the following days and locations:
January 7 - Our Lady Of Lourdes, Childers Road
January 13 - Watch House Cross Complex, Moyross
January 14 - Musgrave’s Car Park, Park Road, Rhebogue
There will be a limit of one tree per person at each of these locations.
In a statement, a council spokesperson confirmed to Limerick Live that the trees will be shredded for use as bark mulch across various parks in Limerick.
