Tredwell Electrical to opens new base in Shannon

AN ELECTRICAL firm has marked its 35th anniversary by expanding its presence outside Limerick.

Tredwell Electrical, which is headquartered at Ballysimon Road, has opened a new 18,000 square foot manufacturing facility at the Shannon Airport business park.

The facility, officially opened by Minister of State and Clare TD Timmy Dooley, complements its existing 19,200 square foot operation in Limerick.

It brings the firm’s total manufacturing footprint to 37,200 sq. ft, and it’s anticipated 80 new engineering jobs will be created over the next three years.

Glenn Bain, general manager of Tredwell Electrical, said: “We are very excited to open the new state of the art facility in Shannon, to help meet future expansion and production requirements. The new facility, provided with the support of the Shannon Airport Group, is located within Shannon Airport Business Park, which is home to over 300 companies employing more than 10,000 people.”

It’s a far cry from the company’s beginnings.

It was founded in 1991 by Stefan Uhlemann inside a 100 square foot garage.

Tredwell Electrical specialises in electrical control and distribution panels, electrical assemblies, machine integration and wiring looms.

The company works with customers across Ireland, Europe and the USA in sectors including pharmaceuticals, data centres, water and wastewater, automation, plus food and beverage.

Four years ago, Tredwell Electrical was acquired by Induchem Group, part of the AxFlow business group within international industrial group Axel Johnson International.

This ensured Tredwell could broaden its market reach and product range.

The acquisition expanded Induchem’s electro-mechanical offering and created opportunities for Tredwell to broaden its market reach and product range.

The Shannon Airport Business Park is right beside Shannon Airport, with the airport group hailing it as being within a minute’s walk of the base, which connects Britain, the USA and mainland Europe with flights.
