BOSSES of a Limerick electrical company have signed a new deal with one of New Zealand's top power providers.

Viotas, which is based at Castletroy, has teamed up with Kiwi electrical provider WEL Networks.

Staff of both companies will work to reduce gas emissions from the electricity supply of WEL customers around the city of Hamilton on New Zealand's North Island.

This latest deal means that Viotas and its systems are now active not just in Ireland and New Zealand, but also in France and Australia.

Its system is designed to empower management at commercial and industrial organisations to earn revenue by becoming active participants on the power system.

Viotas staff will provide WEL Networks with the required hardware, software and training to allow its workers to manage increasing amounts of renewable energy on the grid.

The services will be provided remotely from the Viotas base at Melbourne in Australia, with support from Limerick.

Duncan O’Toole, the firm’s commercial director said: “Viotas is marking 10 years in business this year. From humble beginnings with three employees operating out of a box room in Limerick, we’ve grown to be recognised as a leader in the power demand response space due to our continuous investment in research and development.

“We are delighted to be working with WEL Networks in New Zealand. We have an ambitious strategic plan to continue to grow our business and provide high-quality employment, especially in Limerick and the Mid-West,” he added.

Mr O’Toole said this year, the firm welcomed its 100th staff member, and has a number of openings.
